EZGO RXV Speed FAQ
The RXV's AC motor provides excellent performance with high speed gears. Expect 25-28 MPH with 6:1 gears, 21-24 MPH with 8:1, or 18-20 MPH with 10:1 ratio. The RXV typically achieves slightly higher speeds than the TXT due to its more powerful AC drive system.
Yes! The gear change happens in the rear differential, which is completely separate from the motor type. Whether you have an AC or DC motor, the gears will work the same way. The AC motor in the RXV actually pairs excellently with high speed gears due to its strong torque characteristics.
Gear changes provide more reliable, consistent speed increases than speed chips. Speed chips reprogram the controller and can cause motor strain, while gear changes are purely mechanical and don't stress the electrical system. For significant speed gains (10+ MPH), gears are the better long-term solution.
For speeds over 20 MPH, we recommend inspecting your brakes and considering an upgrade to disc brakes. The stock drum brakes can handle moderate speed increases, but disc brakes provide better stopping power at higher speeds for safety.
